LOCO, Hastings North Business Improvement Area and Dayton Boots partner on this event. Visit one of Vancouver's most independent neighbourhoods, and tour the historic factory making the classic Dayton boot for more than 70 years! LOCO has been working for the City of Vancouver to define heritage business and research tools to protect them, so we'll provide a quick update on this work at the event. Dayton has generously offered to support LOCO by offering to cover the cost of a new membership with every pair of boots purchased. Hastings North BIA is one of our #BCBuyLocal Week partners and Executive Director Tricia Barnes is a Director on LOCO's board. The East Village is located within two historic neighbourhoods situated in the heart of East Vancouver: Hastings Sunrise and Grandview-Woodland. They are a community that has a long heritage of cultural diversity, as well as a dedication to fostering unique businesses that capture the real flavour of what it means to be from East Vancouver. Dayton Boots was founded in 1946 in East Vancouver, and moved to their current location on East Hastings Street in in 1948. Their handcrafted boots are of unsurpassed quality, and thanks to their comfort, durability and classic styling, Dayton's have enjoyed a cult like following that's grown by word of moth from industry and casual users alike. Due to their ability to be successfully resoled and reconditioned, it is not uncommon to see boots still in use after 25 to 40 years. Dayton's popularity has continued to grow through the years and is favoured by many popular movie and music personalities. Dayton's are still made in their East Vancouver location with the same attention to detail that's gone into every pair since 1946. A favorite of customers across the globe, Dayton Boots was an early pioneer in e-commerce, growing their online business in the early 2000's to build the business and serve customers and fans outside the region.
